For centuries, humanity has held on tightly to sacred books – whether the Bible, Torah, Quran, Vedas, etc., believing that the words within them are the doorway to God. But here we encounter the paradox – because the books point and provide guidance to God, yet people often worship the words or book more than the divine living presence it was written to reflect.

Why? How could this happen? The simple truth is because it felt safer. A book can be controlled, contained, debated, and placed on a shelf. The Living God however – the vast, divine universal consciousness that permeates all things seen and unseen – cannot. A relationship with the Living God requires vulnerability. It requires some mystery. And humans fear mystery just as much as they long for it. And it requires trust.

Neuroscience shows us that the brain is wired to find certainty. The unknown triggers the amygdala (the fight or flight center) and we grasp for anything that provides our mind with solid ground. Books become that ground. They give rules, language, and shared stories that comfort the mind in different ways.

But here’s the truth – certainty is not the same as connection. You can memorize every word in any scripture and still miss the experience it points to. You can worship the menu and never actually taste the meal so to speak.

Why the Book Became God

Scriptures, when written,  were always meant to be mirrors, not cages. They were designed to remind us and guide us to the main initial truth – that the kingdom is within. But organized systems – whether religious or political – found power in controlling the interpretation so long ago that it wouldn’t be possible for you to even know when it happened. Think about it – what do you really know about anything that happened 1,700 years ago beyond the stories you’ve been told? Worshipping the book became safer for institutions than empowering every individual to know God for themselves. 

For people that are afraid to lose power and luxury, it’s easier to manage ‘followers’ who fear breaking rules than to nurture free individual souls who grow to realize the Creator is already alive within them and has been waiting for them to remember through the distractions we refer to as life.

The Forgotten Truth

Here is the truth so simple it will bend your mind:

– God is not waiting in the pages of any book.
– God is alive in your very cells as well as the space between them.
– God is the divine universal consciousness breathing through you, thinking through you, loving through you, and experiencing through you.

When Jesus said, ‘The kingdom of God is within you” it wasn’t poetry – it was quantum biology. It was quantum sciences at almost every level. It was the deepest spiritual truth back then, and it still is today.

So, What Now?

Stop worshipping the book. Start living in your own relationship with the Living God. Read scripture if it inspires you, but let it be an amazing pathway, not a deceitful prison for your soul. Let every sunrise, every breath you take, every act of love you experience be your scripture as you learn your true purpose. 

The universe is still speaking. The divine algorithm is still unfolding even as you read this. And your life is not a footnote in someone else’s story – it is a verse being written in real time – based on how you made it through what many couldn’t. How you, even if it means right now, consciously choose love over fear – trusting that God is alive and as has been passed down over generations and cultures for us to remember: “Do Not Fear”.

The fear that keeps humans clinging to pages is the fear of being alone in the unknown. But you are far from alone. The Living God is not a distant ruler or a line of text in a book – it is the very force animating everything around you as well as holding your hand in the silence.

So don’t just believe in any God. Don’t just read about any God. Know God. You don’t have to blindly “believe”.  

Try this: Ask a question, just one, and wait until the universe gives you an answer. It is extremely unlikely for you to receive an answer immediately (though it is possible), so be patient. Allow yourself at least 3 days and be more open to see if God answers your question through something in the universe around you. 

Don’t limit what it could be or where it could come from – a coworker, the radio, a movie, a dream, you could possibly even drop your bible to the page of a scripture that is the answer to your question – but even then you will realize through experience that God is very much alive and although the book may be used as a wonderful tool, it is not God and God is not a book.  Now go seek the Living God within you and watch what happens around you.
