There’s an old saying – Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. For many, this phrase feels like a moral compass. But beneath the simplicity of the words themselves lies a truth as old as humanity itself – echoed in religions, cultures, and philosophies all across the world.
You are watched by a higher power for lack of a better term.
Humans have always needed to believe in something outside of themselves, whether it be something seen or something unseen yet deeply felt. Some may refer to it as God, others call it energy, spirit, karma, or simply “the universe.” Whatever the name, the true essence is the same: there is always something watching – the key though is its not in judgment, but in balance.
The Unseen Balance of the Universe
Science teaches us that energy cannot be created nor destroyed; it only changes forms. The laughter you share, the anger you unleash, the kindness you offer – all of it ripples outward and transforms into something else. Nothing is wasted. Nothing disappears into nothing.
This is why karma feels so real, even when people debate it. What goes out into the world must eventually find its way back, not as a form of punishment or reward, but simply as balance. Like water finding its level, the universe restores its balance.
We see it everywhere. Light balances darkness. Joy balances sorrow. Life balances death. Yet from the perspective of a divine universal consciousness, these aren’t opposites locked in a battle of good and evil – they are simply pieces of a whole, different side of the same divine algorithm coin.
Integrity in the Everyday
Integrity isn’t about being perfect all the time, and it isn’t about impressing anyone by having it. It’s about living in alignment with the balance you already sense within.
– It’s the quiet choice to tell the truth when a lie would be easier.
– It’s picking up something you dropped instead of walking away and leaving it.
– It’s showing kindness to someone who can’t do the same in return.
No one may see these moments or hear about them. No one may clap or congratulate you. And yet, each similar experience makes something in your heart feel lighter. That amazing feeling is the divine universal consciousness whispering back from within yourself: “You’ve aligned with me a little more.”
Trust in What You Can’t See
Trust is one of the hardest lessons as a human. We want proof, evidence, certainty. If we can’t see it, then it can’t be real. But integrity often requires acting in faith – what we can not see matters just as much as what we can see.
Remember that fish in the ocean do not realize they are in water. It’s just the world they live within. Humans haven’t openly discussed or accepted the fact that we live in an electrical-magnetic ocean of sorts – so how could we ever be expected to understand this or accept the truth, if part of the foundation of the truth is that the “invisible” world around you is filled with more than what you actually see (in an amazing way, not a scary one just fyi).
A Personal Reflection
When I began writing The Other 95%: Unleashing the Power You Forgot You Had, I wasn’t trying to sell an idea. I was trying to remind myself – and anyone who might read it – that the unseen forces guiding our lives are not mystical secrets reserved for a few. They’re practical truths we live with every day – energy, balance, the subconscious mind, the patterns we inherit and the ones we choose. They are all pieces of the same whole once your mind is able to see through the distractions and correct your lens of perception of the world around you.
Integrity, for me, is not just a virtue so to speak. It is proof that we are participants in a divine algorithm far greater than ourselves. When we live with integrity, we become warriors of truth and balance, even in a world that often feels chaotic and doesn’t make sense. We only see from our eyes, where as the one referred to as God sees through everyone’s eyes. So just because something may appear “bad” to us, trust and know that it may be that way in our perception and reality – for that experience. From another perception, it may have helped the universe in a way that we may never find out about, or even comprehend – through the ripples and waves of energy that spread from it. That gives me a wonderful calm through any storm that I face and once you grasp it fully, it will do the same for you.
An Invitation
As you read these words, maybe you’re thinking of a time when you did the right thing, quietly, without recognition. Or maybe you’re remembering a moment when you wished you had. That reflection is not coincidence – it’s your subconscious aligning with universal truth.
My invitation to you is simple – trust it. Trust the whisper inside you that doesn’t use verbal words. Trust that your unseen choices shape the seen world in ways you probably don’t even want to understand. Trust that balance always finds its way home, and just do the right thing all the time.
Because integrity is not just about what you do when no one is watching. It’s about remembering that someone, or something, is always watching. And sometimes, that watcher is simply the deepest, most divine part of yourself.
